Andy Ciarletta, PT,CSCS – Owner
Andy Ciarletta graduated from Quinnipiac College in 1995 and is currently the Owner of Step Ahead Physical Therapy. He has over 20 years experience treating Orthopedic and Sports Medicine injuries. Andy has extensive knowledge and expertise in manual therapy techniques such as myofascial release, joint mobilization, trigger point therapy, muscle energy and deep tissue massage as well as implementing individualized exercise programs to optimize full recovery. His company philosophy is to provide a one-on-one treatment approach in order to ensure a positive environment in which the patient can recover quickly and resume their normal life activities.
Andy treats a variety of injuries with areas of specialty including post-surgical conditions, knee and shoulder injuries. He treats patients in the Marblehead office.
Karen Deane, MSPT
Karen received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2000. She has focused her physical therapy career on treating patients with orthopedic and sports injuries. Karen believes in a holistic approach to health and enjoys helping clients recover from all types of injuries. She empowers her patients to take a more active role in their health through educating them about how their body functions and injury prevention. She is also certified in Pilates and she uses this training to help her patients improve their posture and enhance their core strength. Karen is also very proficient in treating the complex TMJ dysfunction. She treats patients in our Cambridge office only.
Rebecca Wheatland, MSPT
Becky studied Biology at Brown University and later received a Master's in Science degree in Physical Therapy at Simmons College in 1999. She has been practicing Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Physical Therapy for over 18 years in the Greater Boston area. She demonstrates very strong clinical skills at evaluating and diagnosing Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic problems. Becky also specializes in Pre and Post Surgical Rehab, Osteoporosis education, fall prevention for the elderly with balance impairments, body mechanics training, and can provide an individualized gym program. When not at work, Becky enjoys sailing, volunteering at the New England Aquarium, golf, travel, swimming, and reading. She treats patients in our Somerville office.
Maryanne Johnson, DPT
Maryanne Johnson graduated from Northeastern University in 2008 with her doctorate in physical therapy and has worked in outpatient orthopedic settings since. Maryanne focuses on providing comprehensive individualized care combining manual therapy, exercise prescription and incorporating current therapeutic techniques. She has worked with athletes ranging from recreational to Olympic level. She also has extensive pediatric experience as well as a strong background in pre and post operative care, chronic overuse injuries and injury prevention. Maryanne enjoys working with patients of all ages and ability levels with goals of reducing pain and maximizing functional potential. Maryanne treats patients in our Somerville office.
Jackie Olin, MPT
Jackie Olin, CPT, MPT, PhD is a licensed physical therapist experienced in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. Her studies include a Bachelor of Science in Applied Anatomy and Physiology at Boston University, a Master of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh, Doctorate in Holistic Nutrition at The American Holistic College of Nutrition and Personal Fitness Trainer Certification from the American Council on Exercise. She specializes in restoring pain-free musculoskeletal health and function with manual techniques and therapeutic exercise targeting the myofascial system. Her integrative approach improves alignment, muscle balance and soft tissue mobility for acute and chronic dysfunction. As an advocate of fitness and self-care, she progresses patients with functional exercise to safely resume sport, work and gym workouts. Jackie treats patients in our Somerville office.
Meghan O’Malley, DPT
Meghan is a physical therapist with a focus on orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation. She received her doctorate of physical therapy from Northeastern University in 2016 and bachelor of science in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011. As an accomplished athlete in soccer and basketball she is passionate about helping others get back to the activities they enjoy. Meghan focuses on providing comprehensive care through manual therapy, myofascial release techniques and therapeutic exercise in order to restore musculoskeletal function and maximize performance. Meghan treats patients in our Lynn location.
Ara Sakayan, PT, ATC, CSCS
Ara is a physical therapist, athletic trainer, and NSCS certified fitness trainer. He initially trained at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Thereafter, he started his physical therapy practices in 1979, and also was the therapist/athletic trainer for the New England Revolution Pro Soccer and Boston Blazers Pro Lacrosse Teams. Ara is on the physical therapy provider list for the Boston Shoulder Institute, Children’s Hospital, Pro Sports Orthopedics, Sports Medicine North and MIT College Orthopedics. The practices provide physical therapy to the North Shore (Nahant, Swampscott, Marblehead, Lynn, Salem) Cape Ann (Manchester-by-the-Sea, Beverly, Essex , Gloucester, Hamilton) and Greater Boston (Boston, Cambridge, Somerville).
