Sports Rebab is a process of helping injured athletes prepare themselves to returning full force to their field of play. We focus on the restoration of joint and muscle function and work to increase range-of-motion that would be needed for specific types of athletics. We are experienced in working with players at all levels to help them heal their injuries quickly and perform at peak capacity. We focus on patient education, because we believe that understanding movement mechanics helps the athlete understand why injury occurs, and how to train to avoid injury, and ultimately how to train to excel in their chosen sport. Programs include:
Sport Specific training programs include:

All Team Sports
We incorporate Plyometric, Agility and Proprioceptive Training into our programs.
At Step Ahead PT we use the Functional Movement Screen or FMS. It is a 7-point movement screen designed to identify dysfunctional movement patterns and asymmetries within the body. The goal is identify those at risk of injury and issue corrective exercises to prevent the injury from ever occurring. From the weekend warrior to the high level athlete, this screening can help determine your strengths, weaknesses and muscle imbalances.
How will working with a physical therapist help my athletic performance?
Athletes, by nature, generally desire to push themselves to accomplish new goals. Sometimes an athlete may master one sport, only to take on the challenge of mastering a new one. Olympic sprinters take on the slopes at the winter games and college athletes win national titles in multiple sports for this exact reason.
When participating in sports conditioning or pre-season training sessions, your goals never have to be definite. Our physical therapists can help you reach the peak of your performance in one area of your sport and then help you tackle the summit of another.
Additionally, our specialists are movement experts who can help you avoid injuries and enhance your technique. A few of the biggest benefits of working with a physical therapist for your sport include:
Developing healthy habits.
While a physical therapist can help you reach physical goals, they can also help you work on general wellness goals, as well. For example, regular exercise, a healthy diet, and a strong focus on hydration are fundamental in improving your physical fitness level. Our physical therapist is a great resource to have when focusing on increasing strength and muscular functionality, as they can help you improve in all aspects of health and wellness.
Refocusing strengths.
Our physical therapist can help you focus on improving your strength in areas that you may not have considered. Many parts of the body influence each other, and strengthening one can help with the function of another. Rather than jumping directly into a new form of activity, it makes sense to train your body to react to the new form of stimulation by improving your muscular strength and range of motion.
Overcoming injuries.
Strength and conditioning programs are some of the best ways to overcome an injury and find relief for your pain. Each treatment is designed specifically to your needs and the condition of your injury, consisting of exercises and strength-building activities that are unique to your recovery.
